Karen Dowden (Degraffenreid)
Office Administration Divorced
Well, Joyce Dunlap Dean has been pestering me for years to follow up with fellow graduates so I guess I just may attend the 40 year reunion.  Met Rita Simms Daniels over the summer had lunch at Martino's and it was fun to catch up. I was extremely shy in high school not so much now, but it has certainly been fun reading everyone's bio.    Send Karen a MessageSend Karen a Message

Retired Married 2
I thought it was time to update this info (just like I hope all of you will do from time to time!)  I have been married to classmate, Dave Kellar, for 37 years.  We have never left Kokomo.  We have two married daughters and two grandsons.    I  worked for the U S Postal Service for 33 years.   I was lucky enough to be able to retire in 2009.  I love life as a retiree.    Being retired is even better than being in High School.   Every day is an adventure.

Biologist / Environmentalist Married 1
It really doesn't seem possible that it has been 35 years.  It was really nice to see all the wonderful things that classmates are doing!  My wife (Cathy Byers H.H.S. 75) and I are celebrating our 31st together in a few weeks. We have one son (Zach 23) who lives here in Kokomo.  I think I am the only person in our class who didn't leave the Haworth building.  I have taught biology in Kokomo Schools for the last 31 years.  I still have great memories every day when I go to my room ( 210 Mr. Riggs' biology room).  I have had several sons / daughters of classmates.  I'm old enough now to start having grandkids so it must be about time to retire.  It has been a real joy to teach at Haworth.   I still love working with young people.
I recently retired from teaching after 33 years.  I am looking for a job in higher education or a lab position.  I spend a lot of time now working around my small farm.  Love the beauty of the woods and working on firewood for the woodstove.  Life is good.  I would be glad to hear from anyone.
Didn't stay retired long.  Worked as a Career Counselor for the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. (Feb. 2011 - April of 2012)  Hired April of 2012 as the Director of the Tippecanoe Co. Solid Waste District.  I also work for the Tippecanoe Co. Soil and Water Conservation District.  I love the new job in Natural Resources.  I get to work on many of the environmental issues I have been involved with for years but without the stress.  Still able to work with students as well as adults which has been an amazing opportunity!

I remember my days at Haworth High School and all of my friends. I remember that back then I could hardly wait to get out of school and on to the adventures of life. Little did I know that those adventures would lead me to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a career as a pastor in the UMC.  Send Kevin a MessageSend Kevin a Message
